IBF’s Distinguished Speakers' Series, 29 Oct 2007, Ritz Carlton
The Institute of Banking and Finance (IBF) is proud to present its very own Distinguished Speakers' Series, a series that aims to provide a platform for our financial sector leaders across different industry segments to exchange views, insights and experience and to participate in a dialogue with some of the world's leading thinkers. The vision is to look beyond sectoral boundaries to discuss key issues facing the financial services industry.

| The first special invited speaker to kick start the event on 29th October 2007 is Sir Brian Pitman, the former Chairman of Lloyds TSB Group. Sir Brian had a long and illustrious career spanning almost 5 decades with Lloyds TSB. He became the Chief Executive of Lloyds Bank in 1983 and Group Chief Executive of the new Lloyds TSB Group in 1995 when Lloyds merged with TSB. He was made Chairman in 1997 and retired in Apr 2001. He has also held other prominent offices such as President of the British Bankers Association, President of the Chartered Institute of Bankers and Master of the Guild of International Bankers. Sir Brian was voted Financial World European Banking CEO of the Year 1993, Times Businessman of the Year 1996, KPMG Business Leader of the Year 1998 and winner of the 1999 Gold Medal of the Institute of Management . Sir Brian currently holds various board appointments in leading companies such as Singapore Airlines Ltd Virgin Atlantic Airways Ltd, and is Senior Advisor to Morgan Stanley and a Governor of Ashridge Management College. He offered his perspectives on the single most important challenge facing CEOs of financial firms in Asia today as well as the challenges faced by financial centres in developing a rich and diverse talent pool. |

Held in conjunction with the Distinguished Speakers' Series was the conferment of the inaugural group of Financial Industry Certified Professionals (FICPs) by IBF. The FICP title is the highest certification mark for a financial practitioner in Singapore under the FICS framework. Each of the distinguished individuals embodies professional competence and commitment to excellence, and serves as a beacon of excellence for our financial services industry.
