Data analysis is the backbone of any business in the new digital era. An analyst must be equipped to understand, identify and present statistics and knowledge based in all business areas as this supports the decision making process.
The role of a data scientist extends beyond reporting on what has been done and how things are being used. The key is to be able to predict the future and as best possible solve problems before they arise. 90% of the worlds data has been created in the recent few years - but few can use it to its full potential and harness the power of the data being mined for the greatest business impact.
What do managers working with data science need to know?1. What are the available data sources and how to qualify them for relevance2. What a database is and what are the different kinds of databases available3. What is Extract, Transform and Load4. Fundamentals of data visualization5. Interrogating any data visualisation/ dashboards with questions relevant to the business challenges (cases/discussions where appropriate)
In this workshop, you will learn not only to understand, digest and play around with all this information, but also how to communicate it to the rest of your organisation or the world. This 3-hour workshop is designed to engage with specific nuances on data analysis and inspire you to move beyond visualization into predictive analysis.

Subhendu brings 25 years of strategic planning and business management expertise to data driven decision making. Having won a Cannes Lions Grand Prix (the first ever for South East Asia), he then proceeded to win a Gold for data driven marketing. He is proficient in using structured, unstructured and asymmetric data to unearth human insights that have driven business success for brands like MasterCard, Nestle, Unilever, Intel, Pfizer, Singapore Zoo, Eu Yan Sang and many others. He has both trained and consulted on data driven decision making across Global, SEA and APAC. In specific he has worked on data driven insights for nutrition, supplements and personal care categories in China and Taiwan.
Subhendu holds a degree in Economics, Mathematics and an MBA in Marketing. For the past 4+ years he has been running an independent data analytics startup in Singapore. Prior to that he was the Managing Director of JWT Malaysia and Head of Integrated Strategy in McCann. He has co-designed, developed and delivered various data modules for Hyper Island.
