The Transformation of the Wealth Management Industry

At the inaugural IBF Connect session on 3 March, Mr Lawrence Lua, Chairperson of Continuing Professional Development Advisory Group (CPD AG); Managing Director, Head of Private Bank, South & Southeast Asia, DBS Bank Ltd; and IBF Fellow, shared the latest CPD results. He also recommended focus areas for the industry to consider as competency priorities for 2016.

In this session, we were also privileged to have experts from MonitorDeloitte, Mornington Services Pte Ltd and PwC to present on the trends and uncertainties in the wealth management industry landscape, an institutional approach to private wealth management and the changing dynamics of today's private banking industry.

The IBF Connect is a series of industry-specific seminars to gather the financial community to discuss issues in a closed-door forum. The event aims to promote industry best practices and facilitate discussion on industry trends amd developments.

Demand and supply driven trends and uncertainties pose significant challenges and opportunities for the wealth management industry. 	Presentation on “Changing dynamics of today’s private banking industry” Michiel van Selm, Director, Financial Services Industry Practice, PwC Michiel’s presentation will discuss evolving business models in line with the changing dynamics of today’s private banking industry. The presentation will go into the balance banks' need to find between standardisation and automation on one side and a personalised client experience on the other side. The sharing will also include behavioural changes on High Net Worth and Ultra High Net Worth clients and how business can enhance customer experience. Advisor would benefit to understand further on the impact on their role, value proposition and skills required.
