IBF is pleased to co-host this masterclass with International Compliance Association (ICA) on TBML.According to the World Trade Organisation, world exports of goods and services increased from US$10.9 trillion in 2006 to US$15.8 trillion in 2016. It is now estimated that hundreds of billions of dollars are laundered through trade each year. Financial institutions, especially banks, play a vital role in international trade by providing trade finance, payments and related services. This inadvertently exposes financial institutions to trade based money laundering, which is one of the more sophisticated methods used by criminals and money launderers. In this masterclass, we will be discussing how firms can better understand and manage the associated risks. This includes:- What is TBML?- What is the impact of TBML on the economy and financial services sector?- What are the obligations of the financial services sector on TBML?- What are the controls that can be put in place?
