Biography

Philip Fernandez is Corporate Treasurer for DBS Group, responsible globally for the firm's capital management, wholesale & structured funding, structural FX and balance sheet strategy. He is a member of the group asset-liability management committee (ALCO), the structural interest rate & FX committee and the group market & liquidity risk committee. He was appointed as group corporate treasurer in April 2009 and oversees teams in Singapore, DBS' five major markets and the rest of the world.

Philip started his career with DBS in 1991 and worked in corporate planning and risk management till 2002. He was subsequently risk controller for credit and interest rates at an investment bank in London. Philip rejoined DBS in Singapore as co-head of Group Market Risk in 2004 prior to taking on his current role.

Philip holds an M.A. in Engineering and Management from University of Cambridge. He studied under a DBS scholarship and graduated with second class upper honors in 1991. Philip was also was an adjunct associate professor at the Singapore Management University for six years till December 2013 where he lectured in quantitative finance. He was named Treasurer of the Year at The Asset Asian Awards 2015.
