Biography

As CEO of Singapore & Malaysia, Vishnu Shahaney is responsible for the overall business of ANZ in the geography across the customer segments of global, international, retail and private banking.

Since assuming his CEO role in October 2010, Vishnu has continuously invested in and developed the company's people, business and contributions to the community in Singapore.

As CEO, Vishnu has made "people" a priority, focusing on local talent development and has established a Learning & Development hub in Singapore. He has also strengthened ANZ's commitment to the local market by developing the Singapore business into one of ANZ's two hubs in Asia.

A big believer in giving back to the community, Vishnu established the Corporate Responsibility framework for ANZ Singapore. As part of this initiative, its MoneyMinded financial literacy programme with the Institute of Technical Education (ITE) has reached out to more than 500 students since its introduction in 2013.

Prior to his current role, Vishnu held a number of senior management positions across corporate, institutional, transaction banking and risk in Singapore, Australia and India. This includes Acting CEO for Asia.

Vishnu serves as a Council Member of the Association of Banks in Singapore, Board Member of the Singapore International Chamber of Commerce and the Australian Chamber of Commerce. He is also a member of the Advisory Board of Curtin Business School's Asia Business Centre.

Vishnu joined ANZ Grindlays Bank in India as a Management Trainee in 1980 and has a B.A. Economics (Hons.) from Kolkata University and a Masters of Business Administration from Melbourne Business School, Australia. Vishnu is an Australian citizen and Singapore Permanent Resident.
