Biography

Matthias Lee joined UBS Trustees, Singapore in 2004 and he is currently its Head of Trust Administration and Chief Fiduciary Officer. He leads a team of professional trust officers responsible for managing its global book of business. In this role, he chairs trustee committee meetings, engages clients in key trust relationships, and provides management leadership within the company. He also works with wealth planners globally on complex structures and product development.

Matthias regularly participates in consultations and discussions with industry regulators and associations for the on-going development of the legal, regulatory and best-practice framework in Singapore.

In recognition for his leadership and contribution to the trust industry in Singapore, he was appointed Chartered Trustee by the Singapore Trustee Association in 2015.

Matthias was conferred the IBF Fellow award in 2016 by the Institute of Banking and Finance Singapore (IBF). The IBF Fellow title recognises industry veterans who exemplify thought leadership and commitment to industry development.

Matthias is an Executive Committee member of the Singapore Trustee Association and a member of its Continuing Professional Development sub-committee. He is also an adjunct teaching faculty member of the Wealth Management Institute, focusing on Wealth Planning and Trusts.

Prior to joining UBS, Matthias had over a decade of experience as a practicing lawyer in local and international law firms, and legal counsel in a number of multi-national corporations. His areas of specialty were project and structured finance, banking, mergers & acquisitions and Litigation.
