" It is a great honour for me to be conferred the prestigious IBF Fellow award, which would not have been possible without the great support from colleagues, customers and business partners. This award will inspire me to find new ways to nurture young talents, grow our global franchise and contribute to the further development of Singapore as an international financial centre."

C.R. 'Shyam' Sambamurthy is the Global Head for Citi's International Personal Bank (IPB). In this role, Shyam has full oversight of the global IPB business providing specialised wealth management advisory and solutions to a select group of global clients.

A 28-year veteran of Citi with significant experience in cross-border Wealth Management businesses spanning Asia and Europe, Shyam has been the Business Manager of IPB in Singapore since 2009, a role which he continues to hold in addition to his global position. He is based in Singapore.

Shyam was instrumental in leading the business through significant transformation and growth over the years. Under his stewardship, the strategic integration of Citi's global Non-Resident Indian business with IPB Singapore was successfully executed, bringing the two important businesses onto the same platform.

As Singapore grew in stature to become a leading international financial centre, Shyam has played a key role in expanding and leading the business to deliver a full spectrum of banking services and solutions to meet the evolving wealth management needs of its highly sophisticated affluent clients. IPB now manages more than US$60 billion in total assets for its clients across the world.

Shyam was conferred the IBF Fellow award in 2016 by the Institute of Banking and Finance Singapore (IBF). The IBF Fellow title recognises industry veterans who exemplify thought leadership and commitment to industry development.

With a Bachelor degree in Economics from Vivekananda College, Shyam also holds an MBA in International Management from the International Management Institute, both from India.
