Biography

Yang Ping is the Regional Head of Institutional Banking Group (IBG) Operations supporting IBG business across all 14 countries where DBS has a business presence.

In the last 3 decades, Yang Ping contributed to the Bank’s transformation from a local bank to the largest bank in this region. After DBS’ acquisition of Dao Heng and Kwong On Banks, Yang Ping was seconded to Hong Kong where she assumed the role of the Head of Operations. Subsequently, she was appointed the Head of Technology and Operations as well as COO in Hong Kong where she carried out and harmonised their overall strategy. For her efforts, Yang Ping received industry accolades and awards for operational excellence and people management.

Since 2009, Yang Ping has also assumed the role of Head of Emerging Market Operations as DBS expanded into China, Taiwan, India and Indonesia. She set up the Emerging Market Operations team, working closely with all countries to establish their operational standards and to put in place key personnel to support the Group's overall operational strategy.

To address the digital disruption, Yang Ping has put in place an operational transformation strategy that works in tandem with DBS’ digital banking strategy to initiate changes through the innovation and digitization of servicing and processing methods. Among the initiatives is an award-winning risk management tool that proactively identifies trade finance transactional anomalies.

Yang Ping was conferred the IBF Fellow award in 2016 by the Institute of Banking and Finance Singapore (IBF). The IBF Fellow title recognises industry veterans who exemplify thought leadership and commitment to industry development.
