Risk Management

"In my role, it is important to be an integral partner to the business. It is by understanding their ambitions as well as concerns that we can continuously strengthen our risk stewardship in both the financial and non-financial risk areas. The ability to ask difficult questions and having the courage to do the right thing are key qualities of a good Risk Steward."

Ms Ng Puay Leng joined HSBC Singapore in 2004 and is currently the Head of Retail Banking and Wealth Management Risk.

She has overall responsibility for all credit risk matters as well as risk stewardship accountability across the full spectrum of risks affecting the retail banking business in Singapore. This includes oversight of Wealth Management risk, Credit Underwriting, Debt Management and other non-financial risks.

Ms Ng has been HSBC's representative in the Credit Bureau Members Committee since 2011. She also serves as a member of the IBF FICS Risk Management Working Group, and currently sits on the Board of Credit Bureau Singapore.

Prior to joining HSBC, Ms Ng spent more than 10 years in Citibank Singapore in various roles within the Consumer Risk function, across most portfolios. She graduated from Nanyang Technological University of Singapore with a Bachelor of Accountancy.
