"With the advent of new technologies and being a true believer in customer centricity, I strongly believe we need to build future organization capability by enabling our staff to go digital, be agile, and have a disruptive mindset. In the face of rapid technological disruptions, we need to be able to continue creating value for our clients, affirming our role as trusted guardians and custodians of their monies, and most importantly to help them achieve their financial goals."

Dennis Tan is the Head of Consumer Financial Services (Singapore) at OCBC Bank.

As the leader of the core management team of OCBC's Consumer Financial Services, Dennis demonstrates a high degree of thought leadership in his work; setting and driving the strategy for the consumer banking business. He has also been closely involved in leading many digital first initiatives to improve customer experiences and to excel in wealth management. His leadership has borne strong results, helping the bank to continue doing well in the Bancassurance space as well as the building up of the Premier and Premier Private Client segments of the business.

Being a keen advocate of learning, Dennis works closely with the IBF to lead the Consumer Banking Professional Conversion Programme (PCP) for OCBC, which aims to reskill their staff to enable them to take on more complex job functions, improve workflow efficiency and to provide aid and advisory on digital-age banking tools and services. As part of this initiative, clear transformation roadmaps have been established and new roles have been created such as the reskilling of bank tellers to Digital Ambassadors and call centre executives now taking on sales capabilities.

In the spirit of giving back, Dennis in his close partnership with Wealth Management Institute (WMI) at Nanyang Technological University (NTU), has also been closely involved in the creation of the Wealth Management Programme – Affluent for the industry and has also been undertaking speaking engagements to inspire young aspiring Priority Bankers.

Dennis holds a Bachelor of Science in Business (Honours with Distinction) from Indiana University, the United States of America (USA) and is also a Certified Financial Planner.
