IBF Distinguished Fellow (2019)

Consumer Banking

"I am greatly honoured to be conferred the title of Distinguished Fellow, Consumer Banking, by the Institute of Banking and Finance. As a banker, I believe banks are in a privileged position, able to influence and drive the socioeconomic progress of countries. This privilege had to be earned, by building the banking system upon the foundational values of trust and confidence from its stakeholders. In today’s ever-changing and volatile times, the preservation of these values is more vital than ever, and must be embraced by banking leaders with the belief that this is, and will be, the path to successful outcomes for all."

Jeremy Soo joined DBS in 2003 and is currently the Managing Director and Head of DBS Consumer Banking Group in Singapore. He oversees the DBS, POSB, Wealth Management networks and distribution, ATM/digital/mobile channels as well as all key consumer related products and services in Singapore.

Jeremy is instrumental in the digital transformation of DBS Singapore's consumer banking business. Under his leadership, the consumer banking business pioneered many first-in-market innovations, including DBS SMS Q, POSB Cash-Point, DBS FasTrack and POSB Smart Buddy (the world's first in-school wearable tech savings programme). The business has also developed multiple ecosystem marketplaces and partnerships to enable customers to seamlessly fulfill their needs. In addition, Jeremy is leading multiple initiatives to drive Singapore's Smart Nation vision and has represented DBS in the country's Digital Readiness Taskforce. He is also a strong advocate for inclusive banking and DBS/POSB has worked with various governmental agencies to provide subsidised banking services to low-income, marginalised groups in Singapore.

Jeremy has more than 30 years of consumer banking and finance experience. Before DBS, he spent 18 years with Citibank Global Consumer Banking Group, Singapore as the key management staff primarily responsible for Consumer Lending.

A Singapore citizen, Jeremy holds a Bachelor's Degree in Management (Economics) from the University of London.
