Chia Hock Lai is the CEO of Switchnovate, co-founder of the Global Fintech Institute and Senior Blockchain Advisor of Tembusu Partners. He has over 2 decades of experience in the financial and technology industry.

In his current role as the CEO of switchnovate, Hock Lai provides fintech and blockchain consultancy services to fintechs and financial institutions. As the co-founder of the Global Fintech Institute, he is responsible for the strategy and operationalisation of the Chartered Fintech Professional (CftP) qualification. As a Senior Blockchain Advisor to Tembusu Partners, he helps to identify and evaluate promising blockchain projects for investment.

Prior to the current roles, Hock Lai was with NTUC Income for a total of 17 years and last held the role of Head of Digital Office. He began his career as a Management Associate with NTUC Income in 1999 and rose through the ranks to hold several positions across a multitude of functions. He also served a 1.5 years stint at GovTech handling G2C projects.

Over the years, he has both founded and served in multiple industry forums to support the growth of Singapore as a leading fintech and financial blockchain hub. Currently he is the  co-chairman for the Blockchain Association Singapore. He was the former and founding president of the Singapore Fintech Association (SFA), Under his leadership, the SFA has grown its membership base to more than 900 corporate members, with an extensive international partnership network in over 40 countries.  Through the partnership with the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS), SFA delivered the Singapore FinTech Certification, the MAS-SFA-AMTD FinTech Solidarity Grant, and the annual FinTech Talent Report. NTUC conferred the prestigious "Partner of Labour Movement" award to SFA and him in 2018 and 2019 respectively, in recognition of their work in helping workers to re-skill and up-skill into FinTech.

Hock Lai holds a Bachelor of Science (Real Estate) with Second Class Upper Honours (Dean's List) from the National University of Singapore and a post-Graduate Diploma in Infocomm Technology from Nanyang Technological University. He has been a fintech fellow of the Singapore University of Social Science since 2017 and is a member of the Board of Trustees of the NTUC U-Care Fund.
