George started his working career with the corporate treasury department of Keppel Shipyard. He joined the banking industry in the early eighties in the treasury advisory, capital markets origination and fixed income sales. In 1989, he moved into general management of a commercial bank.

In the early nineties, George's corporate banking exposures expanded regionally covering Asia Pacific regions.

George joined OCBC in 1999 initially as Head of Capital Markets and later expanded to include Corporate & Institutional Banking. In 2002, he was promoted to Head of Global Investment Banking. In 2012, George assumed his current position as Head, Global Corporate Banking.

George is a pioneer CFA in Singapore, having obtained his CFA designation in 1987.
