Irene Ng graduated from the Nanyang Technological University with a Bachelor of Business (Insurance). After working for over three years with direct life insurance companies, she took a year's break to study Diploma in Epidemiology and Biostatics with The University of Melbourne.

Upon returning to Singapore, Irene Joined one of the leading global reinsurers, Gen Re, where she embarked on a career of providing holistic risk assessment services and training to the Life insurance industry in Singapore, India and Asia. She is now the Asia Regional Chief Underwriter and Head of Claims for Gen Re (Life/Health) based in Singapore. She is also a Fellow with the Academy of Life Underwriting (U.S.), and an Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute (UK).

In her more than 16 years with Gen Re, Irene was involved in different roles including marketing, product development, and overseeing both the underwriting and claims function of the Singapore and India office, which service clients from South East Asia and India. She is a regular speaker at industry conferences, authored numerous articles for Gen Re's industry publications, and provides technical training to financial advisers, underwriters, claims assessors and other life insurance professionals across the region.

Irene is currently the Convenor of the Underwriting and Claims Sub-committee of the Life Insurance Association of Singapore.
