Purpose of Programme |
The learning objectives of this course are:
Part 1:
(a) to determine what are key messages from the financial market (in particular, the cash, equity, fixed income and foreign exchange markets), and to learn how to use various financial platforms to find and analyze these key messages, as well as provide informed recommendations to clients
(b) to understand the Singapore Financial Services Industry, including the Private Banking landscape, encompassing
i. legal and regulatory frameworks, as well as regulatory authorities and their roles
ii. various entities and different types of operating licenses and scope of activities
iii. key existing and new governing acts and laws, including Private Banking Code of Conduct, SFA, FAA, KYC, AML/CFT, FATCA, AEOI/CRS, etc, as well as their importance and rationale
(c) to understand what fiduciary obligations are, as well as
i. know applications of various laws, in not just conduct but also in on-boarding of new clients and what relevant risks are
ii. to understand the governance on client suitability process, leading to appropriate solutions in response to their needs
iii. understand the various common measures implemented to ensure compliance, eg client call backs, declarations, codes of conduct, whistle-blowing policies, etc
iv. to understand cross border practices, laws and how to apply them
(d) to understand priorities and roles of an individual working in the asset and wealth management industry, including
i. what is financial crime, eg money laundering, terrorist financing, etc
ii. who is responsible to prevent/combat financial crime
iii. various means and measures that can be put in place to help detect fraud/crime
(e) appreciate the importance of adhering to rules and regulations, including the impact of non compliance
(f) understand the Private Banking Code of Conduct, including
i. illustrating and interpreting market conduct
ii. the disciplinary review process for enforcement of the PB Code of Conduct
iii. the ethical responsibilities required by the PB Code of Conduct
(g) understand what it means to act ethically
i. understand and apply ethical decision framework
ii. appreciate what and how to say and do the right things to work effectively
iii. identify the potential challenges and rationalisations
Part 2:
(h) To gain a clear understanding of how our VUCA environment is impacting the very definition of leadership and which skills are needed to survive and thrive in tomorrow’s world
(i) To better understand the importance of personality and culture in cross-boundaries business environments
(j) To understand what culture is and the different spheres of culture (national, regional, corporate, generational, etc.)
(k) To discern the different dimensions of national culture and the underlying assumptions of one’s own cultural perspective
(l) To enhance their awareness of their strengths and weaknesses in managing cross-cultural situations and develop a plan for enhancing cultural intelligence personally and throughout their organization
(m) To enhance their understanding of motivation and talent acquisition in today’s rapidly changing environment and strengthen their ability to build and align teams
(n) To gain a solid understanding of the concept of change and change management
(o) To gain a clear understanding of what drives behavioural change in organisations and acquire and develop leadership behaviours and competencies in managing and supporting organisational change
