Adam Abdur Rahman

Managing Director, Head of Communications, Asia South, Citi

Biography

Adam Rahman is Citi’s Head of Communications for Asia South. In addition to the regional role,
Adam also directly oversees communications for Citi in Singapore where he is responsible for all
internal and external communications, as well as reputational risk and issues management. Adam
is also responsible for raising the brand profile of Citi and developing the thought leadership
strategy of the firm. In his regional role, Adam supports Citi’s Asia South Head and is part of the
regional management team. Citi’s Asia South markets comprises India, Indonesia, Malaysia,

Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.

Adam has more than 40 years of experience in the media and communications industry. He started
his career as a Broadcast Journalist with the Singapore Broadcasting Corporation (now
MediaCorp) and also worked as a Producer at Asia Business News (now CNBC Asia). Prior to
joining Citi in October 2003, Adam was the Chief Executive Officer of The Right Angle
Communications, which he co-founded, and subsequently became a leading provider of media

training and strategic communications to private and public sector clients.

Outside of Citi, Adam is actively involved in the area of public service. He serves as a District Councillor of the South East Community Development Council (SECDC) of Singapore which aims to assist the needy and enable greater understanding amongst various communities. In his other capacities, Adam is also the Vice Chairman of the Singapore Institute of International Affairs , a leading independent think-tank in Singapore and Chairs the Advisory Board of the National University of Singapore’s Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences . Adam is also a member of the Institute of Adult
Learning Council. Previously, Adam has served on the Board of the Health Sciences Authority, on the Board of Governors of the American Chamber of Commerce in Singapore, Chaired the Branding and Marketing Outreach Working Group of the Institute of Banking and Finance Singapore (IBF) and was on the IBF Standards Committee. In addition, Adam served on the Board of the Inland Revenue Authority of Singapore (www.iras.gov.sg) and Chaired the Board’s Staff Committee A.

 

In August of 2008, Adam was awarded the Public Service Medal (Pingat Bakti Masyarakat) by the President of Singapore as a national recognition of his contributions to the community. In November 2015, Adam received the Public Service Star (Bintang Bakti Masyarakat) from the President for rendering valuable public service to the people of Singapore. In April 2018, Adam was appointed as a Justice of Peace by the President. Adam has a Masters in International Conflict Analysis from the University of Kent at Canterbury in the U.K. He also has a Bachelor of Arts degree from the National University of Singapore, majoring in Political Science and Philosophy.
