Biography

Professionally, Allen expresses himself in the wealth succession and planned giving domain. He champions the concept of scenario gaming, which is a unique and logical way of letting clients discover their own capital, liquidity and income needs under death, disability, retirement, and special situations.

Allen believes in research, education, and learning. He shared his belief by serving as an EXCO member of the Insurance and Financial Practitioners Association of Singapore (ifpas) and transformed its education and training programs to help raise the standards and standings for its members who are licensed financial practitioners.

During his terms from 2016 to 2021, he single- mindedly built a learning eco system for the members of the association. The learning eco system consists of first, ifpas Technical and Back to Basics Series workshops on topics ranging from technical, legal, behavioral, and ethical aspects of financial planning presented by subject matter experts; second, an ifpas HNW certification course, which is built based on the joint-inputs by practitioners and academia to help practitioners venturing into the HNW space; third, Tuesday Times, which is a bi-weekly publications written by practitioners for practitioners to encourage deliberate reading and writing amongst practitioners; fourth, an ethics course which tackles the difficult ethical dilemma situations face by financial practitioners.

In 2020, as part of the SG Youth Action Plan, Allen led a working committee from the association to collaborate with National Youth Council and the Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth to empower youths to take charge of their financial well-being. He contributed to the technical contents which was framed into wealth Creation, Accumulation, Protection and Succession (C.A.P.S.) concept for the youth.
