David Cheng

Head, Corporate Finance, Global Investment Banking, OCBC Bank

Biography

​David is the Head of Corporate Finance in OCBC Bank's Global Investment Banking division. He is responsible for the bank's Equity Capital Markets and Mergers & Acquisitions business in Singapore and throughout the bank's network. 

David has more than 25 years of experience in equity capital markets, debt capital markets and mergers & acquisitions in Singapore and Southeast Asia. Prior to joining OCBC Bank in 2015, David was Head of Corporate Finance Execution and Head of Real Estate, Gaming and Leisure in Southeast Asia at Deutsche Bank AG, Singapore. David started his career in J.P. Morgan and developed his career over the years also in Credit Suisse and Citi. 

David was the Chairman of the Association of Banks in Singapore (ABS) Standing Committee on Corporate Finance from 2019 to 2020, during which he led the 10-member Committee in discussions with SGX Regco to update and enhance the ABS Listings Due Diligence Guidelines. 

David was awarded the Tripartite Alliance Award (Individual) in 2021 for a Special Mention Award as an Advocate for Work-Life Harmony. The Tripartite Alliance Award, organised by the Tripartite Alliance for Fair and Progressive Employment Practices (TAFEP), recognises individuals who have been instrumental in the creation of a fair and progressive workplace culture. 

David graduated in Economics and Mathematical Modelling with Highest Distinction from Northwestern University.
