Gary PL Chong
Managing Director, Head of Group Operational Risk Management, OCBC
Biography
Gary is Managing Director and Head of Group Operational Risk Management at OCBC Group, where he is responsible for the Group's operational risk framework, including risk governance, internal controls, crisis management, third-party risk management and operational resilience. He oversees the identification, assessment and mitigation of non-financial risks, and works closely with senior management, regulators and boards to strengthen the Group's risk profile and resilience.
At the industry level, Gary chairs three Association of Banks in Singapore (ABS) Standing Committees covering Third-Party Risk Management, Business Resilience and Continuity, and Physical Security, where he helps shape and advance the Singapore financial sector's operational resilience agenda. He is also an Advisory Committee Member of Ngee Ann Polytechnic's School of Business & Accountancy, contributing actively to finance talent development.
Beyond banking, Gary has board-level governance experience as a Board Member of the Singapore National Paralympic Council and the Singapore Disability Sports Council. He served as Chef de Mission of Team Singapore at the 13th ASEAN Para Games in 2026.
Gary holds an Executive MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.
