Biography

Jaishankar carries over three decades of experience in a range of functions covering business development, technology, operations and general management functions with a strong mix of country and regional responsibilities. His key focus has been to build and develop key relationships with market supervisors and industry bodies.

Jaishankar is the Chief Operating Officer for Deutsche Bank in Singapore, and the Co-COO Emerging Asia. He oversees MAS engagements and provides leadership on regulatory, risk matters and key industry engagements on behalf of the Bank. He was a member of the team that implemented the Avaloq platform to support the growth of Wealth Management across the region. He is responsible for governance, risk management, cost management, and infrastructure oversight in Singapore. A keen promoter and advocate of culture change and the innovation agenda, he has been instrumental in setting up the Bank’s first Innovation Lab in APAC and the ESG Centre of Excellence in Singapore.

At Deutsche Bank he has held various positions; responsible for multiple technology implementations in Fixed Income, Custody, and Equities platforms globally before he went on to lead the Quality function for APAC Investment Banking Technology.

He started his career with the National Stock Exchange of India in Mumbai, as a member of the team that was mandated to create the first electronic exchange for trading securities in India. He was responsible for exploring the market opportunities for electronic trading systems for fixed income securities and eventually driving the development of an electronic trading platform for securities in India.

He holds a bachelor’s and master’s degree from the University of Mumbai.
