Biography

Muh Hwa Lee is the Managing Director and Head of Technology for Kinexys Digital Payments and Kinexys Liink at Kinexys by J.P. Morgan, a division of J.P. Morgan Payments. He leads the technology team in developing cutting-edge wholesale payment solutions leveraging blockchain technology. As the architect of the Kinexys Digital Payments ledger, Muh Hwa led the development of the blockchain deposit account network that enables 24/7 global fund transfers for the bank’s wholesale clients. He has also been instrumental in delivering the JPMD deposit token proof-of-concept on public blockchain, a superior alternative to stablecoins for institutional clients’ USD cash settlement and payments. Additionally, he has played pivotal roles in industry projects such as CBDC initiatives sponsored by the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) and Banque de France, and contributed to the creation of Partior, a fintech company co-founded by J.P. Morgan and partners. Muh Hwa has held various roles in program management, architecture, and product development for global payment transformation initiatives.

Before joining Kinexys by J.P. Morgan, Muh Hwa worked with other financial institutions in payments and cash management technology, focusing on client channels, receivables, liquidity management, and FX payments. He has managed deliveries across multiple geographies adopting modern software engineering processes facilitating globally distributed teams.

Muh Hwa holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and a Master of Technology in Software Engineering, both from the National University of Singapore
