Biography
Lorna Tan is a prominent financial correspondent, author, and consumer advocate known for her work in personal finance literacy and retirement planning. She has consistently contributed thought leadership to financial education initiatives, working alongside regulatory and advisory bodies to promote long-term financial preparedness.
She serves as the Head of Financial Planning Literacy at DBS Bank, focusing on public financial education, framework development, and advisor training. She established financial planning benchmarks structured around five core pillars of saving, protecting, investing, home planning and retirement/estate planning.
As an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Finance at the National University of Singapore (School of Business), she actively shapes the next generation of finance professionals through practical personal finance curriculum. She previously held the role of Head of Corporate Communications at CapitaLand Limited.
Prior to joining DBS, she spent 16 years as the Invest Editor and Senior Correspondent at The Straits Times, earning multiple awards for her reporting on finance and consumer protection from organisations like Securities Investors Association Singapore (SIAS) and the Society of Publishers in Asia (SOPA).
She has written four bestselling personal finance books: Money Smart: Own Your Financial Destiny, Retire Smart: Financial Planning Made Easy, More Talk Money, and Talk Money.
