Head of Compliance, APAC, M&G Investments

Biography

Ruth Poh is Head of Compliance, APAC at M&G Investments, where she leads the regional compliance function across Singapore, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Japan, providing strategic oversight of regulatory, compliance and financial crime risks supporting the firm's investment management and distribution activities across the region. She has more than 20 years of experience in asset management and is recognised as a senior compliance leader. Prior to joining M&G, she was Head of Compliance & Operational Risk Control and Board Director at UBS Asset Management (Singapore) Ltd.

Over the course of her career, Ruth has played a key role in some of the asset management industry's most significant strategic initiatives, including supporting the establishment of one of Singapore's first tokenized fund using Variable Capital Company (VCC) fund structure, the integration of Credit Suisse Asset Management into UBS Asset Management, the establishment of a Luxembourg fund management company and London branch, and the expansion of private markets and alternative investment businesses throughout the region. Her expertise spans investment management regulation, cross-border distribution, fund governance, financial crime prevention, operational risk management and regulatory transformation.

Beyond her corporate responsibilities, Ruth has made meaningful contributions to the development of Singapore's financial services industry through her leadership as Chair of the Investment Management Association of Singapore Regulatory Committee. She works closely with industry participants and regulators to strengthen governance standards, promote industry capability building and advocate for practical regulatory outcomes. Under her leadership, the committee expanded continuing professional development programmes in ethics, financial crime prevention, accountability and governance, helping to raise professional standards across the asset management sector.

In recognition of her expertise, Ruth was appointed as a Member of the CMFAS Examinations Industry Panel for Fund Management, where she contributes to the review of industry examinations and learning content to ensure they remain relevant, practical and aligned with evolving market practices and regulatory expectations.

Through her combination of executive leadership, industry advocacy and commitment to professional excellence, Ruth continues to contribute to the resilience, integrity and long-term development of Singapore's financial services industry.
