Biography

Soh Kian Tiong, Chief Risk Officer at DBS Bank since November 2021, brings over 30 years of extensive experience in the banking and finance industry.

He provides group-wide oversight and management of all major risk domains, including credit, market, liquidity, operational, and non-financial risks, while contributing to the bank's strategic direction as a member of the Group Management Committee.

Throughout his distinguished career, Kian Tiong has navigated DBS through significant global challenges, including the Global Financial Crisis, social unrest in Hong Kong, and the COVID-19 pandemic.

His leadership in risk management was recognized when DBS received the Gold Award for Best Risk Management (Large Cap category) at the Singapore Corporate Awards 2025.

He actively shapes the financial industry in Singapore as Chairman of the IBF Risk Management Workgroup, spearheading initiatives to develop risk management talent and address emerging risks like Generative AI.

Kian Tiong also contributes to the IBF Standards Committee and the NUS Risk Management Institute of Singapore, influencing industry standards and curriculum development.

He was conferred the IBF Fellow award in 2017.
