Chief Operating Officer, AIA Investment Management Private Limited

Biography

Wijaya has over 26 years of global experience across asset management and asset servicing, having held senior leadership roles in the US and Asia.  He currently serves as the Chief Operating Officer at AIA Investment Management Private Limited since January 2025, overseeing Investment Operations, Finance, Client Service, Project Management Office, Investment Asset Infrastructure, and Operational Due Diligence of external fund managers across private and public markets.

Prior to this, Wijaya was Executive Director and Group COO at UOB Asset Management for nearly a decade. There, he led major operational and digital transformations—modernising platforms, implementing data analytics capabilities, and embedding AI into the investment process.

Wijaya also held senior roles at the Northern Trust Company in Singapore and the US for 17 years and was an Executive Committee member and Honorary Treasurer at the Investment Management Association of Singapore (IMAS).

At IMAS, Wijaya was a key member of the IMAS Digital Innovation Committee (DIC) for over seven years, driving the asset management industry's digitalization. As a founding member, he helped pioneer the Digital Accelerator Program (DAP), the first association-led buyside accelerator in Asia, bridging Fintechs and Asset Managers to accelerate technology innovation and solutions to solve industry problem statements.

As IMAS' Treasurer and EXCO member, Wijaya ensured the sustainability of initiatives like iLearn and the IMAS Annual Conference, growing membership by over 30% and training over 2,000 professionals. He enabled IMAS’ introduction of programs on tokenisation, GenAI/LLM, Climate Transition, Digital Assets, Private Equity/Debt/Real Estate and more, addressing critical industry skills gaps. His leadership and oversight helped IMAS transform into an influential association regionally and globally.
