Patrick Lee

Biography

As Cluster CEO, Singapore and ASEAN Markets, Patrick is responsible for steering and executing business development and strategy for the Bank in Singapore, Malaysia, Vietnam and Thailand. He has over 25 years of experience in the banking industry, including corporate and investment banking, and has worked in Singapore, Hong Kong and London. Patrick led the full subsidiarisation of Standard Chartered Bank (Singapore) Limited in 2019, making it the largest foreign banking subsidiary in Singapore.

In 2020, the Bank was accorded the enhanced Significantly Rooted Foreign Bank status – paving the way to secure a new banking license and to establish our digital bank joint venture with FairPrice Group – Trust Bank, which was launched on 1 September 2022. In 2021, Standard Chartered Bank's ASEAN hub was created by bringing the banking subsidiaries in Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam under its Singapore subsidiary, further strengthening the Bank's presence in Singapore.

A strong proponent of building a future-ready workforce, Patrick also led the Bank to becoming an employer of choice – #2 on the 2022 LinkedIn Top Companies List in Singapore (2 years running). The Bank was also awarded 'Human Capital Partner' by the Ministry of Manpower and 'SkillsFuture Employer' by Workforce Singapore.

Patrick has actively supported the growth and development of Singapore's financial sector. As a member of The Association of Banks in Singapore (ABS) Council, Patrick contributes to guiding the policy and strategic directions for the association. As the representative of ABS to Singapore Business Federation Digitalisation Issues Committee, Patrick contributes to the promotion of technology adoption and digital transformation across the business community.

Patrick is a member of the Payments Council and the Monetary Authority of Singapore's Financial Centre Advisory Panel Green Financing steering committee, and is an advisory board member of Singapore Green Finance Centre launched by the Singapore Management University.

Patrick is an Executive Committee member of Singapore Trade Data Exchange Services Pte Ltd and serves on the Board of Climate Impact X Pte Ltd as an Alternate Director. He is a Board Director of Clifford Capital (established as a specialist provider of structured finance solutions). Patrick is also a Co-Founder and Board Director of Leap Philanthropy Ltd, a Singapore-based charity active in Indonesia, Cambodia and Myanmar.

Patrick graduated with BA (First Class Honors) and MA in English from Trinity College, Cambridge.
