Biography

Mr Tan Wee Soon is the Head of Compliance & Risk Management for Bank Julius Baer & Co. Ltd., Singapore branch. Prior to joining Bank Julius Baer & Co. Ltd., Wee Soon has also held various senior regional and local compliance roles in Singapore, China and Hong Kong. He is experienced at building and managing large cross-functional and cross-jurisdictional teams.

Wee Soon has contributed to the development of industry standards through his participation in initiatives and projects managed by of the Association of Banks in Singapore (ABS) and the AML/CFT Industry Partnership (ACIP). These projects include the review of the ABS AML/CFT guidelines and COSMIC (Collaborative Sharing of ML/TF Information digital platform & Cases) digital platform which will enable financial institutions (FIs) to securely share securely share information on customers or transactions with the aim to help FIs identify and disrupt illicit networks. He is keen to develop and apply risk concepts to new emerging areas and has played a key role in the successful launch of a digital exchange and digital custody service and the formulation of AML/KYC practices in relation to this area.

He is a firm believer of knowledge sharing and training and is regularly invited to share his insights and experiences in overseas and local forums, conferences and training courses.
