Overview

What is the Technology in Finance Immersion Programme?

The Technology in Finance Immersion Programme (TFIP) is an industry Attach-and-Train Career Conversion Programme that aims to build up an industry pipeline of capabilities in key technology areas to meet the talent needs of the financial services sector.

This is a full-time programme that provides mid-career individuals with the opportunity to attend industry-curated structured training, followed by attachment with financial institutions to gain on-the-job experience to pivot into a career in technology within the financial services sector.

Technology areas that are available under TFIP 2023 are:

  • Artificial Intelligence
  • Business Analysis
  • Cloud Computing
  • Cybersecurity
  • Data Analytics
  • Software Engineering
  • Technology, Information and Cybersecurity Risk

The programme is managed by the Institute of Banking and Finance (IBF), with the support of Workforce Singapore (WSG), Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA), SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG), Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) and participating financial institutions.

Who can apply?

Mid-career individuals who are passionate about pursuing a technology career in the Financial Services sector and who fulfil the following eligibility criteria and pre-requisites may apply:

Eligibility Criteria

  • Singapore Citizen or Singapore Permanent Resident
  • Minimum 21 years old
  • Graduated or completed National Service (whichever is later and where relevant) for at least 2 years at the point of application
  • No prior work experience in any of the following technology areas:
    • Agile IT Project Management,
    • Artificial Intelligence,
    • Business Analysis,
    • Cloud Computing,
    • Cybersecurity,
    • Data Analytics,
    • Software Engineering, or
    • Technology, Information and Cybersecurity Risk
  • No outstanding sponsorship obligations from other government-funded programmes
  • Able to commit to full-time structured training and attachment in a participating financial institution
  • Must not be a shareholder* of the hosting financial institution, or its related companies
  • Must not be related to the owner(s)^ of the hosting financial institution.
  • Must not be immediate ex-staff of the hosting financial institution or related entities

*does not apply to publicly traded shares in listed companies

^for non-publicly listed companies, refers to individuals with shareholding per ACRA profile

Application and Selection Process

  • Applicants can apply for up to 2 preferred training areas.
  • Applicants can indicate up to 3 preferred financial institutions when applying for the programme, but IBF will forward your application to all participating financial institutions for their consideration. (As financial institutions may not offer all training areas, please ensure the financial institutions of your choice are offering the training areas you are applying for).
  • Eligible applicants will be invited for an aptitude assessment for each of the training area applied for.
  • Applicants who pass the assessment and are shortlisted by the participating financial institution(s) will be invited for interview(s) with the financial institution(s).
  • Successful applicants will be offered a traineeship by IBF and the hosting financial institution. They will undergo (i) structured training (approximately 3 – 6 months) with industry-recognised training providers to attain foundational skillsets required of the respective technology areas. Upon completion of the structured training, trainees will be attached to the hosting financial institutions for (ii) on-the-job training.
  • Trainees under this programme are not employees of the financial institutions, and they will not be covered by the Employment Act and CPF Act.

How do I apply?
  • Applicants should complete the application via the web-form with necessary declaration on WSG MyCareersFuture.
  • New application deadline will be announced.
  • Applicants will need to use their SingPass to login to the application portal to complete their application.
  • Applicants shall agree for their details in the application to be shared with government agencies, financial institutions as well as IBF Careers Connect to contact them for job matching services should their application to TFIP be unsuccessful.

 

Indicative timeline for TFIP 2023

Please note that below is an indicative timeline and IBF reserves the right to adjust the timeline accordingly.

Applicants will be contacted by the participating Financial Institutions for interviews if shortlisted.  
​Oct – Nov 2023 Extension of Offer(s) to applicants

 

Applicants who are offered a traineeship position with Financial Institutions will hear from IBF progressively during this period.
